Big Dreams, Big Wins: Mississippi Lottery Players Claim Life-Changing Prizes
More than $69 Million in Prizes Awarded in FY27 Q1
FLOWOOD, MISS. — For Mississippi Lottery players, the dream of a routine trip to the store turning into a life-changing payday has become a reality many times since the fiscal year began July 1, 2026. From a weekly coffee chat that turned into a $100,000 Powerball win to a first-time lottery player who turned spare change into a $20,000 prize, winning stories are adding up across the state. And the wins are adding up, too: in just three months, the Mississippi Lottery awarded $69,006,657 in prizes to players across Mississippi.
Powerball players claimed some of the biggest prizes, including a $1 million prize in Tupelo. Players in Purvis and Picayune each won $100,000, while $50,000 prizes were won in McComb, Gulfport, Flowood, Jackson and Pascagoula.
For the Picayune $100,000 winner, the win was part of a weekly tradition. She enjoys visiting her favorite retailer, chatting with the employee and purchasing her usual Powerball Quick Pick. On this particular visit, their coffee time came with a life-changing surprise.
Now, she plans to use her winnings to pay bills and make a trip to California to visit her grandchild. And because the retailer employee has become such an important part of her weekly routine, she plans to share some of her winnings with her, too.
Mississippi Match 5 also created some big dreams of its own, with jackpot-winning tickets sold across the state. Winners include jackpots of $550,000 in Pelahatchie, $310,000 in Lake, $250,000 in Southaven, $85,000 in Columbus and $50,000 in Moss Point.
And sometimes, a life-changing win starts with something as simple as a Coke.
One Mississippi Lottery player had never played the lottery before. While purchasing a Coke, she paid with a $5 bill. The retailer encouraged her to use the change to try a $2 Triple Play scratch-off ticket.
She decided to give it a shot and walked away with the game’s $20,000 top prize.
Other scratch-off players have also had plenty to celebrate. A Gulfport player recently became the third Mississippi Lottery player to win $1 million on the Millionaire Maker scratch-off game. Additional Millionaire Maker prizes of $50,000 were won in Pascagoula and Stateline. Another Gulf Coast player from Moss Point won the $100,000 top prize on the $5 Wheel of Fortune ticket.
The dream of winning big isn’t limited to Mississippi. Millionaire for Life, the Mississippi Lottery’s newest draw game, awarded another $1 million for life prize last month to a player in Ohio. The Ohio winner is the third Millionaire for Life $1 million-for-life winner since the game launched in February.
Millionaire for Life offers players the chance to dream about what they could do with a guaranteed $1 million prize paid over time – from creating financial security and paying off debt to traveling, helping family or simply having more freedom to enjoy life.
With winning tickets being sold in communities from the Gulf Coast to Southaven and everywhere in between, the Mississippi Lottery reminds players that you never know when an ordinary trip to the store could become an extraordinary story.
Lottery games are for adults 21 and older. The Mississippi Lottery encourages players to play responsibly. For more information about Mississippi Lottery games, winning numbers and unclaimed prizes, visit the Mississippi Lottery Corporation website or download the Mississippi Lottery Official app.
